Puhek On The RoadMontana Historian Lenore Puhek, has been invited to participate in a memorial tribute to Civil War soldiers at Greenwood Cemetery, the oldest cemetery in New York state. More than 1300 tombstones will be set for Civil War soldiers whose plots were unmarked. Libby Townsend Meagher, the subject of Puhek's book The River's Edge is buried at Greenwood, and a special tribute will be paid to Thomas Francis Meagher, Civil War officer and first Governor of Montana Territory. The organization contacted Puhek after seeing her book at a Civil War museum. The cereemony will take place on 19 April. Terry Halden On TVHistorian and author Terry Halden's new book Ghost Towns & Mining Districts of Montana caught the attention of his area media. Western Author Supports CharityHistorian Jim Griffin will take part in the WILD WEST DAY fundraiser at Miracles in Motion (MIM), a therapeutic riding center at 118 Wyman Road in Keene, New Hampshire. Two dollars from every book sold will be donated to MIM, a non-profit organization which offers horseback riding therapy to physically or mentally challenged children and adults. (Similar organization can be found at Disabilities.org.) This year the MIM event is on Saturday, May 31st. Griffin will also be portraying a Texas Ranger during the event's Old West gunfight and bank robbery reenactments. He and his horse, Yankee, will also enetertain festival goers with some of their tricks. Griffin is the author of a series of Texas Ranger novels, and is an unofficial historian of the Texas Rangers; he has donated an extensive collection of Texas Ranger artifacts to the Texas Ranger Hall of Fame and Museum in Waco, Texas.
